Learning Issues

Cognitive challenges are a heavy burden which, when not properly diagnosed and treated, can result in major deficits in self-esteem. At BiofeedbackWORKS, we see every person as an individual and begin brain training at the level of their capabilities. Neurofeedback optimizes brain function. With the use of quantitative Encephalography (qEEG) we target the areas and networks of the brain that are not functioning properly–areas which correlate with a client’s learning weaknesses. By strengthening these brain networks and areas of the brain, clients learn to improve processing, read faster with higher comprehension, compute math with more accuracy, and regain confidence. I.Q. scores will often increase.

Assessment:

Quantitative EEG is an important part of our assessment process, allowing us to identify markers for abnormality that correlate with symptoms specific to each individual. All treatment plans are individualized, based on the client’s symptoms, history, goals, and quantitative Electroencephalography (qEEG) assessment. EEG measurements provide a means for the reliable examination of brain function.

Recent studies have shown that this method can be used to objectively evaluate cortical responses and cognitive functions, including attention, perception, memory and psychomotor performance. At BiofeedbackWORKS, we take it a step further and use these measurements to teach the client how to shape their EEG patterns in a direction that improves cognitive function.

Treatment:

We use state-of-the-art neurofeedback training options such as S-Loretta, multichannel Z-scored training, pRoshi, HEG (hemoencephalography), and LENS. With neurofeedback training, people who have challenges with reading, processing, focus, and attention can learn to strengthen areas in the brain responsible for these functions thus improving their learning capabilities.
